Shinola, Detroit based manufacturer for watches, bicycles, leather goods, shoe polish and pet accessories, has opened its first retail store on the US West Coast. The Shinola store in Los Angeles’ Silver Lake district, on Sunset Boulevard, shows the whole assortment of the company on 1,100 square feet. “It’s the ideal setting to open our first flagship location on the west coast,” says Shinola’s Steve Bock.

Currently, Shinola continues its strategic retail expansion with a store opening in Chicago’s Wicker Park-Bucktown neighborhood and its first European store in London’s Soho area. Shinola is distributed at about 350 points of sales across the US, among them luxury department stores, specialty stores and watch/jewelry stores such as Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales. In addition, Shinola products are sold at international (online) stores such as Net-a-porter, Colette (France), Palacio de Hierro (Mexico), Renfrew (Canada) and Robinsons (Singapore) along with the company’s own online shop.

Shinola was founded in 2011 and is owned by Bedrock Manufacturing Company, LLC and RONDA, AG and is specialized on products handcrafted in America. The company currently employs 309 people in total, with 84 people in watch manufacturing, 50 people in leather manufacturing, and 10 employees in warehouse and distribution.
