Men’s and womenswear label Selected is on the verge of entering the German market with own retail with 8 store openings in the pipeline between October and November this year. The first shop will open its doors in Dortmund, on October 8th, followed by Bremen and Oldenburg on the 22nd and Weiterstadt, Ludwigshafen and Stuttgart on the 29th. Stores in Wolfsburg and Bielefeld are opening on November 5th. Eventually, a shop in Oberhausen will also be inaugurated –the exact opening date hasn't been disclosed-. While the shopping locations in Dortmund, Bremen and Oldenburg will only sell the men’s range (Selected Homme), the rest of cities will commercialize also womenswear (Selected Femme). “The positive results for the brand through wholesale- and online channels were one of the reasons to start with own retail,” as a spokesperson of the label told SI. This is the second time that Selected tries to establish own retail in Germany, after a previous experience that apparently went wrong some years ago –no further details on this have been shared by the brand.

Selected –brand belonging to international fashion group Bestseller- currently runs 15 stores in its home market, Denmark; 11 in Norway and 2 in Iceland at present. Besides the planned openings in Germany, a shop in Dublin will also open this year. Regarding the further expansion of markets, the same spokesperson said: “Yes, we have a great focus on expansion further but we don’t have any specific market in focus.”
