Nicolas G. Hayek, Chairman and Delegate of the Board of Directors of The Swatch Group Ltd., has died. He was 82. The cause was heart failure. Hayek, previously named an Officier de la Legion d’Honneur de France, is credited with modernizing the Swiss watch industry and building the commercial success of Swatch Group, whose 19 prestige to basic watch brands include such names as Breguet, Omega, Longines, Rado, Tissot and the namesake Swatch, which was launched in 1983.
