Surf brands Quicksilver, O’Neill and OP and magazines SG, Surfer, and Surfing Magazine have all joined forces to benefit The Ocean Institute’s international surfboard art and ocean-themed photography contest called “Water=Life.”

The Ocean Institute is a not-for-profit organization that promotes ocean preservation through education, and through providing information to universities, teachers and museums.

Entries will be accepted until May 15, 2004 and winners will be announced during an award weekend held at the institute in California June 26-27.

Top surfboard artists, including Drew Brophy, will judge the surfboard art. The editors of the three participating surf magazines will judge the photographs. The winners will have their work displayed at the Ocean Institute for the entire month of June.

The three surf-apparel brand sponsors will provide merchandise from bags and shoes to sunglasses and wetsuits to the contest winners and runner-ups.
