Sports, fashion, people and prices – those were the main topics of the summer 2005 edition of ispo (, which ran July 3-5 in Munich in the new fair building.

About 23,000 people visited the trade show, which is roughly the same number of people who attended it last summer. The majority came from Austria, Italy, Switzerland, the UK, France, the Netherlands and Czech Republic. In addition, many people from Poland, Spain and Korea also visited the event.

The exhibitors were quite international as well. In all, 1,049 companies from 46 different countries presented their products and fashion collections. Manfred Wutzlhofer, CEO of the fair Munich GmbH, which produces the show, was very pleased with the results. “The exhibitors were satisfied with the quantity and the quality of their contacts,” he said.

As usual the fair was divided into different areas for hardware, sportstyle, streetwear and sportswear, and included big areas inside and outside for active sports such as Nordic walking, climbing, cross bikes- and BMX-riding and skateboarding. For the first time the show presented the boarder’s village, where boardsport brands such as Billabong, Chiemsee, Exes, O’Neill, Protest und Quiksilver presented their products.

The America’s Cup Village at the ispovision was another new addition. There the German America’s Cup yacht was on display and the outfitters of various America’s Cup crews such as Murphy&Nye, North Sails, Sergio Tacchini and Prince Henri showed their collections.

While yachting and golf were central themes of the fair, soccer was another important topic. Regarding the Football-WM, which takes place in Germany in 2006, the exhibitors presented a great range of football-themed tricots, shoes and accessories.

Interest in Nordic fitness and tennis also seemed to be on the rise at the show.

One highlight of the event was the Global Sportstyle Awards, which took place Monday night at ispovision. At the ceremony 900 guests celebrated together with the sailors of the United Internet Team Germany. The award winners were as follows: Adidas Golf (Men’s Footwear of the Year), Clover (Newcomer of the Year), Deha (Designer of the Year), Fly London (Women’s Footwear of the Year women), Luis Trenker (Women’s Outfit of the Year and Brand of the Year) and Murphy&Nye (Men’s Outfit of the Year).

The next ispo will take place in Munich in January.
