Interfilière Paris closed its first July edition (July 9-11) with a growth of 9% of visitors in comparison to the last September edition. The trade fair changed its dates from September to July, “as requested by the profession and in line with clear evolutions in the market,” organizers said. In total, Interfilière and Mode City attracted 27,017 visitors, 28% came from France, the rest from foreign countries, led by visitors from Italy, UK and Germany. Also the exhibitors were truly international. The total number of 304 exhibitors came with 82% from abroad and reached also a 2.5% of growth. Now ideal for fabric buying and launching collections, the new dates have motivated former exhibitors to return, according to organizers, naming e.g. Elastic Textile, European Stretch Fabrics, Henitex International, Pioneer, or Blue Studio.

Concerning trends for fall/winter 2012/13, shapewear had its peak this session: Liebaert’s Magic Curve products were a resounding success. The new Easy Shape line by Eschler was also very popular. Arte Ricami’s special shapewear embroidery, combined with laser-cutting stood out from the crowd. Two-way stretch lace designed for shapewear and plus sizes from Siva went down well, as did the more resistant version of microfibre-backed lace. The return of elegant laces with very fine motifs and a demand for fairly graphic designs was another trend, with a move towards more visual and less transparent aesthetics. For beachwear, geometric graphics and jacquards featuring a variety of effects (puckered or cloqué, textured, glitter) attracted attention.

Interfilière targets specific categories of sourcing professionals such as manufacturers, stylists, buyers representing mass-market and multiple retail (department stores, specialist retail chains, hyper and supermarkets, importers, wholesalers).

The next dates for Interfilière Shanghai/Shanghai Mode lingerie are Oct. 18 and 19, 2011 and Interfilière Paris/Salon International de la Lingerie running from Jan. 21-23, 2012. Interfilière Hong-Kong will take place on March 29 and 30, 2012.
