After 22 years in Beijing, CHIC, the leading fashion fair in Asia, took place at the new building of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai for the first time from March 18-20, 2015. Running concurrently with Intertextile, both fairs covered two of the giant leaves of the NECC with a total area of 220,000 sqm.

Moreover, CHIC debuted its “Show in Show” concepts, hosting mini-versions of trade shows like PH Value (knitwear specialists) and TheMICAMshanghai & Italian Fashion@Chic as well as the South Korean fashion fair PREVIEW IN CHINA.

CHIC alone counted more than 125,000 trade visitors from all over China, but also from many other Asian nations and buyers from Israel, Great Britain, Russia and other states, who looked out for 1,200 brands.

“We perceived Shanghai as more difficult than Beijing, but we made a lot of new contacts. It is the first time for CHIC in Shanghai and it is now to be seen that brand placement will be pushed forward”, commented Simone Meyer, Export Manager from the Parisian brand Nathalie Chaize.

Besides new areas like the CHIC Forum, where experts guided seminars, conferences and workshops, another concern of CHIC was the development of design talents. The special concept “Impulses” provides a platform for young designers and gives the industry a fresh impetus.

The next edition of CHIC Shanghai is scheduled from 13th to 15th October, 2015, with the focus on Spring/Summer collections for 2016.
