For its last edition (at least in its traditional format), Bread & Butter comes back to its long-loved location At airport Tempelhof. Although nostalgic feelings arose at the little-filled airfield grounds, Berlin’s fashion fairs are definitely looking back on a busy first trade show day. Sportswear International's team split up across the city to get some first day impressions from the different events (listed in alphabetical order).

Bread & Butter: Everybody was excited about the last 'classic' B2B edition of Bread and Butter, again at Tempelhof. The first thing visitors saw when entering Tempelhof was an empty airfield. After a short second of orientation one recognized the food court on the former part of the urban base, which has to be crossed in order to get to the real exhibition itself in hall 5 and hall 6, while hall 7 is reserved for kids wear fair Cookies. The first day started unusually quiet at the airport fairground and the number of visiters didn't really rise in the afternoon. Although less visitors and exhibitors were attending, people did their business anyway as nearly all buyers of big houses were attending the show to see what it was like. Nevertheless, the atmosphere of the last edition was rather sad. The mood was kind of sorrowful and the usual buzz was missing. But as Aki Tuncer, Knowledge Cotton stated: “When friends invite you to a party you go there.”

Bright: Probably the smartest move that Bright could make was moving to Arena and neighboring Seek. Aware that it’s sharing a big part of his crowd with this platform, the skateboarding-lifestyle show prioritized making things easier for tight-schedule buyers to get the best out of their stay in Berlin. So if you needed around 30 minutes to move from one platform to the other by public transport last January, now it can be done in a few minutes. Some small labels also appreciate the fact that the whole show is happening on one floor only.

Greenshowroom/Ethical Show

Greenshowroom/Ethical Show: Starting today, Greenshowroom and Ethical Fashion Show Berlin come along with a strong line-up of 160 labels presenting sustainably produced collections for summer 2016. Although just a few visitors found their way to the Postbahnhof by Monday noon, the mood among the exhibitors is confident and cheerful. This season, the trade show is being extended with a tent construction in front of the Postbahnhof. For this reason the labels now have more room at their disposal and exhibit their products on booth spaces of up to 40 square meters. From now on, Ethical Fashion Show also presents its own fashion show: Ethical Fashion on Stage which debuts on the 9th of July, 6 p.m. in the Postbahnhof Club.

Timezone at Panorama

Panorama: Once more Panorama Berlin proved its relevance as a marketplace for the broader fashion segment. In every respect you could find a wide selection covered in a decent business atmosphere-be it on the exhibitors' side with a mix of well-established brands as well as smaller, upcoming labels or on the visitors' side with attendances by the German-speaking key accounts as well as smaller boutiques and specialty stores. Especially in the new Nova Concept hall on the first floor trade show visitors could find a mix of first-time Panorama-exhibitors from the young and urban sector reaching from fashion to footwear and accessories labels.

 Reign Italia at Premium
Reign Italia at Premium
Premium: Premium has just opened its doors and both visitors and exhibitors are convinced that this is the show where one can pick cool ideas and new products.
Despite the majority of visitors are German, also buyers and insiders from all over Europe, the US and Asia (especially from Japan snd Korea) were around. Optimism and enthusiasm is pervading halls and corridors, despite uncertainties about Greece and the Euro. Denim is everywhere - not only offered by denim specialists, but also by most sophisticated and upmarket women's wear and men's wear brands. Authentic and vintage, aged, ribbed and mended as seen at Reign Italia and Dondup - denim can be found in any possible interpretation for spring/summer '16.

Seek: Loyal to its classic success formula, nothing changed much at Seek: the same-looking wooden booths put both established and newcomer labels on the same level. Besides, the high-frequency of visitors on the first day replicated what happened last January – probably also because of new neighbor Bright. The uniform visual identity is though tricky for visitors when searching for a certain brand on the fair grounds. In spite of this, the concept continues attracting new brands like Teva or Les Benjamins. Worth mentioning is also the outdoors area with artificial sand and hammocks right next to the river Spree –the best spot to chill for a bit.

Show & Order: Bohemian Summer is the right impression for the successful first day of Show & Order at the Kraftwerk location in Berlin Mitte. Flower girls at the reception, decorated booths and chill out areas created a relaxed atmosphere, which was even intensified by the lack of frequent scanning controls. With 300 international brands and more space for accessories, the fair is a good platform for independent brands. The first day started well and attracted buyers from individual multi-brand stores and boutiques with its consequent mix of trend and luxury fashion.
