Alcantara, the luxury man-made and suede-like lifestyle material, which is also 100% made in Italy, employed from automotive to hi-tech industry, from interior design to fashion and beauty, and all the way to space and the airplane industry, has started a collaboration with US designer and illustrator Rebecca Moses.

For s/s 2016 the designer Rebecca Moses, who is known of her unique style, has created a complete new global capsule collection - "The Life of an Alcantara Girl" by Rebecca Moses – giving life to a dream world of accessories, interior design objects, charms, toys, fashion pieces and must-haves all made with the eclectic, multipurpose and high-performance material.

Within the recently closed edition of Milan Fashion Week, Moses presented her entire colorful capsule collection of limited edition items inside the first Alcantara Concept Store, in the heart of the fashion district in Via San Pietro All’Orto. She also personally painted the store’s walls with trendy girls, lovely fashion victims and colorful shopping-addicts, creating a special exhibition space that merges a boutique with an art gallery. While getting ready for the debut of her first woman’s show in Tokyo, Rebecca Moses answered some questions about where fashion will be heading and how she creates her projects. What do you see for the future of fashion?
I think everything has to be shaken up and all rules must be broken. I think less is more. In the last years designers were too stressed to produce too many pieces in order to reach economic targets. The market was swamped with products. For this we shall do less and more precious products, infused with greater creative energy. Everything we offer has to carry some real message.

What did you learn from this collaboration with Alcantara?
This was a great creative challenge. I had one single material and I had to create an entire world out of it. For me it was writing a book and inventing a whole new story. By offering a very special shopping experience you have to be able to transport consumers to some very special world which can surprise them.

How do you create your products?
I don’t like to work on a single product for its own sake. It would be like having accessories or clothes floating or hanging but not meaning anything in particular. I rather prefer to invent a story that can communicate the consumer some real unique experience. We all have to rethink and re-strategize our work in this direction. If we shake it up we are on a right road.
