How old neoprene wetsuits could be re-used in an eco-conscious way has been a challenge for the surf industry. Now Rip Curl has found a new fashionable solution to reinventing the old suits. As of S/S 2009, eight slippers, or 10% of the overall footwear brand’s range, will be made from “resurrection rubber,” that is to say, 70% rubber and 30% from chopped neoprene. The slipper retails for €25. In 2006, the activewear brand launched “Project Resurrection” to collect old wetsuits at their Pro events and shops.
