London’s Guildhall Art Gallery (cityoflondon.gov.uk), in the heart of the city's square mile, tomorrow launches an exhibition “A Mile of Style” celebrating 180 years of shopping on Regent Street (regentstreetonline.com).

The exhibit, which runs 12 April – 30 June 2007, will reveal the story of one of Europe’s most famous shopping thoroughfares with the unique display of archival documents, maps, photographs and plans as a result of a collaboration between the City of London Guildhall Art Gallery, Westminster City Archives ,The Crown Estate and the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

Fascinating articles of British fashion history, including prestigious heritage retail brands AQUASCUTUM (est. 1851) JAEGER (est. 1884), and AUSTIN REED (est. 1900) will be participating in the three-month exhibition. They will be sharing archive pieces including graphic art and advertising material, original designs and vintage costumes, available for public viewing for the first time.
