Pitti Immagine released its official attendance figures for the 75th edition of Pitti Uomo and the third edition of Pitti W Woman Precollection that ran from Jan. 13-16.

Official figures show that there were about 1,000 exhibitors in all, a record number of companies compared to all past editions. Visitors totaled about 35,000 (1,000 more compared to the 34,000 of Jan. 2008) and there were 22,672 buyers, 7,066 of which came from outside of Italy (31% of the total), slightly less than the previous year (in total over 24,000 in Jan. 2008). Italian attendance, meanwhile, remained stable compared to the previous year — over 15,000 — while the number of visitors from the US, UK, Japan, Russia and Spain decreased. Among the top visiting countries this season were Germany, Japan, The Netherlands and Spain.

Said Raffaello Napoleone, CEO, Pitti Immagine: “Positive comments came from exhibitors and visitors, with a reduced number of participants, though all the top buyers and most important department stores were there. The new dates of the salon, from Tuesday to Friday, kept a more homogeneous movement of visitors and maintained visitors inside the Fortezza longer. Exhibitors said they spent more time with buyers, managed to better show their collections, wrote orders and made actual commercial contacts.”
