Californian-born designer Rachel Roy (rachelroy.com), has won funding from TSM Capital, the fashion investment company recently founded by former Bloomingdales executive Marvin Traub along with Aslaug Magnusdottir and Mortimer Singer. The company, who in August bought a 22 percent stake in Brit designer Mathew Williamson’s company, has acquired an undisclosed minority stake in the Rachel Roy label, which is described as "significant".

The designer, who is married to hip-hop fashion mogul Damon Dash – someone who has played a significant role in the rising star of Roy – intends to use the cash injection to broaden international sales, launch new brand categories, and open the first freestanding store in the US.

"The fact that I have found people I really enjoy working with is so important when you're going to be making creative as well as long-term decisions," explained Roy. "It's expanding the brand and building it into something I wouldn't be able to do on my own because funds wouldn't have come as quickly."
