Surf-inspired fashion brand Quiksilver has inaugurated its first Boardriders concept store in Coolangatta, Australia, a lifestyle spot that merges fashion and leisure with a bar, lounge area, barber shop and local bands’ performances. This is the 14th Boardriders shop worldwide, after openings in cities like Saint Jean de la Luz (France), Ericeira (Portugal), Barcelona (Spain) and Moscow (Russia).
Situated on a 745 square-meters site, the interior combines materials like concrete, brick and metal with wood and glass. Two surfboard carousels, stocking 500 boards, provide the backbone for the store: the first one travels from top to bottom on the main façade, and the second is located inside, soaring across the top of the retail spot. The Coolangatta-Boardriders distributes Quiksilver beach collections and a beach and apparel range; Roxy’s beach, popsurf and fitness collections and DC skates and sneakers.
Parallel to this opening, 2015 marks the 25th anniversary of the womenswear brand Roxy. To celebrate it, the label has launched a series of videos with World Surfing Champion athletes Lisa Anderson, Kelia Moniz and Stephanie Gilmore where they talk about this sport. In addition, a social media campaign with hashtags #25YearsofROXY and #ROXYchamps has also been created.
