On 26-27 May, Zurich will hold the fifth edition of the Global Department Store Summit (GDSS), international discussion platform where chief- and senior executives of department stores, global-reach brands and technology companies can meet, exchange their know-how and network.

This year’s edition will focus on analyzing the impact that the rise of travel and tourism by consumers has had on department stores and brands, together with the consequences of today’s digitalization, which enable consumers to buy goods in a few clicks. In this challenging era, GDSS aims to explore how can retailers reach and retain customers, what are the challenges and benefits for department stores and which business models offer the best sustainable growth.

The two-day event is packed with several thought-provoking sessions and top-notch speakers and panelists like André Maeder, CEO of The KaDeWe Group; Tommy Hilfiger’s CEO Daniel Grieder; Anne Pitcher, managing director of Selfridges & Co; and Richard Umbers, CEO and managing director of department store group Myer in Australia.

Three awards –best department store in the world; world’s best CSR initiative by a department store; and world’s best store window campaign at a department store– will be presented on May 26 in Zurich at the official dinner and awards ceremony.

GDSS is organized by Intercontinental Group of Department Stores in collaboration with Zurich’s department store Jelmoli.
