Pitti Uomo is ready to showcase the newest menswear trends for f/w 2016-17. The title theme of this edition is “Pitti Generation(s)”, which highlights the co-existence of different generations in today’s fashions and styles and how consumers’ attitude is influenced by much more than biological age. The show, taking place from 12 to 15 January, 2016, in Florence’s Fortezza Da Basso, will bring together more than 1,200 exhibitors and about 35,000 visitors out of whose 24,000 are expected to be buyers.
Many events in the Fortezza and outside of it will also make these four days a not-to-be-missed occasion for learning about the newest trends of the season from top menswear and sportswear collections, meeting key Italian and global fashion insiders.
Greater functionality, top quality materials and great craftsmanship dominate the scene together with color touches lighting up the darkness of winter.
Outer jackets are betting on hyped functionality with refined touches and Eco-sensitivity. Tatras offers jackets made with special jacquard nylon fabrics. Blauer launches a series of new jackets that are self-warming. Parajumpers offers multistrata jackets in polyester satin, added with detachable padded nylon inner strata. Woolrich launches its Arctic Parka No Fur, a jacket whose hood has been completely redesigned. It is high collared and carries an innovative double closure guaranteeing protection from the cold that can be worn by any commuter. Therefore it is perfect for both life in the city and outdoors.
Wool is a protagonist at Pitti and knitwear dominates modern menswear. Nobis, the Canadian outdoor jacket brand launches a series of garments made with highly functional, cold and weatherproof technical jersey. Diktat, a newcomer for the show and 100% made in Italy brand, presents its most innovative new knitwear tops and blazers. Havana & Co plays with multicolor knitwear strip bombers. Omogene launches new mohair knitted tops whose colors appear as if melted on the surface of the garment. Pringle of Scotland launches its collaboration with eclectic designer Nick Wooster and offers items employing tartan fabrics and Made in Scotland broken yarns for very special effect pieces. Schneiders launches its Soft Loden coat employing very warm anti-pilling high-tech wools.
Pajamas are cool
Cool, relaxed though luxurious is the new loungewear as presented by Oliver Spencer’s soft jackets and trousers. Prince Tee’s, the collection born from a collaboration between Enzo Fusco and Prince Emanuele Filiberto, launches Sweet Dreams Brand Prince Tees, a line of luxury cotton-cashmere pajamas to be worn at home and in relaxed contexts. Berwich also reinvents trousers employing striped silks and microdesign variants in bright materials.
Outdoor meets fashion
Outdoor apparel is another protagonist of this edition. Colmar is launching its “Future generation” collaboration with designer Cristian Pellizzari and Comeforbreakfast who stunningly interpreted materials like down and neoprene, and wool coats doubled with jersey and matt glued matelassé jackets.
The show is hosting the new section Make presenting some of the best and coolest craftsmanship examples in menswear mixing different product categories such as leather items, accessories, footwear and bespoke menswear. Among most interesting brands on show in this section are IMjiT35020 Manufactus, a 100% made in Italy denim brand whose products emphasize the handmade component in terms of finishing and details made with very heavy natural indigo denims weighing up to 16 oz.
