According to family sources the charismatic publisher, who ran his then mainly golf sports related publishing and consulting company ‘Strokesaver’ out of Zürich, Switzerland until recently, died of a heart attack last Sunday, March 25 in Dubai, soon after his 67th birthday.

Schindler founded first ‘Jeans Intern’ in 1975 and later on Sportswear International in 1979 out of Ratingen near Düsseldorf, Germany. He gave especially the newly rising jeans and sportswear community its own well accepted voice and constituted its position as the leading B2B publication for the sports- and jeanswear industry in the eighties. He added the North American edition of the magazine in 1982 and made Sportswear International a truly international publication with offices in Germany, New York and Milan, Italy in the years to follow. He sold his shares and ownership to Deutscher Fachverlag, Frankfurt in 1992 that still publishes the magazine with great success until today.

All team members of Sportswear International, the owner family, the advisory board and the management of Deutscher Fachverlag deeply regret the loss of this highly respected visionary, publisher and entrepreneur.
