Following our previous report on the change of ownership of Pepe Jeans London, its previous owners Torreal, Arta Capital and L Capital Europe (Private Equity Fund sponsored by LVMH) have signed a definitive agreement with M1 Fashion, a subsidiary of M1 Group, and L Capital Asia to sell their stakes of the Pepe Jeans Group. The company’s management team and other shareholders close to management will reinvest alongside M1 Fashion and L Capital Asia.

The decision by Pepe Jeans Group’s management team to reinvest alongside M1 Fashion and L Capital Asia shows the intention to continue expanding the group’s international presence in the Middle East, Asia, USA and Latin America with the support of their new partners.

“Our new incoming partners bring with them a wealth of experience, knowledge and influence, particularly in markets where we envisage significant growth opportunities. We share a long term vision and a collective aspiration for the company and its brands,” commented Pepe Jeans Group’s management team.

“Pepe Jeans Group is a group with solid positioning in various geographies, particularly in Europe, and benefits from a well-seasoned and highly capable team within the fashion industry. We believe our investment will benefit the group for further expansion globally, particularly targeting opportunities in Asia and North America,” as commented by M1 Fashion and L Capital Asia.

M1 Group is a family-owned investment company engaged in different business activities. It was founded in the early 1980s when Taha and Najib Mikati, two brothers, ventured into the construction and telecom sectors, leading to businesses such as the multinational telecom operator Investcom, which was listed on the London stock exchange in 2005, then merged with South Africa based MTN. M1 Group manages a vast portfolio of international sectors as diverse as telecommunication, retail, fashion & apparel, energy, aircraft leasing, cement and real estate.

L Capital Asia was launched in 2009 and the firm conducted a final close of its first private equity fund at US$ 637 million in December 2010 and of its second private equity fund at US$ 1,005 million in August 2014. It has offices in Singapore, with further regional advisory presence in Hong Kong, Mumbai, Shanghai and Sydney. L Capital Asia invests in lifestyle consumer businesses across Asia.
