UK-based Pentland Group (Boxfresh, Speedo, Ellesse etc.), a privately owned third-generation family business, has won the award for Top European Family Business of the Year, handed over during the European Families in Business Awards 2014 in Barcelona (Spain). This prize honors the role that family businesses play in the European economy. Other shortlisted family businesses included Mango (Spain), Villeroy and Boch (Germany), Campari (Italy) and Faiveley Transport (France).

In addition, Pentland has been listed among the Top 25 European Best Workplaces 2014 for the first time, in a ceremony that took place in Rome (Italy). Prior to this acknowledgement, the company was also classified as one of the Top 10 UK Best Workplaces 2014 by the Great Place to Work Institute.
