Following two years of renovation the department store Printemps inaugurated its new storefront with pomp, fireworks and a spectacular light show on Nov. 12 that illuminated the retailer’s impressive 180-meter long facade and 40-meter-high domes. Regarded as an historic monument, the 120-year-old building regained its architectural integrity and previous reputation as a masterpiece of Art Nouveau.

The inauguration party attracts hundreds of citizens, blocking Boulevard Haussmann, one of the busiest streets in Paris at rush-hour, and causing traffic chaos. The department store benefited from the event and unveiled at the same time its new Christmas windows, which are dedicated this year to Russia. As a guest star, Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova inaugurated the three main windows, for which the fashion houses of Chanel, John Galliano and Victoire de Castellane for Dior created exclusive dolls set in a Russian datcha.
