Yesterday during the Salone del Mobile Prada-CEO Patrizio Bertelli together with Prada Fondazione director Germano Celant and star architect Rem Koolhaas unveiled the plans for the new Prada Fondazione (fondazioneprada.org) building which will host art exhibitions.

The complex is located close to the centre of Milan at Largo Isarco 2. The 100-yr-old former industry building offers exhibition space of about 18.000 sqm (81.000 sq-foot), and when the 25million-Euros project is completed in about 3 years time, will feature an auditorium and an extra-build tower under the design-eye of the Dutch Koolhaas (oma.eu) in order to house the Prada and Luna Rossa archives as well as the art exhibits.

“Prada is about experimentation, and finally bringing those experiments to reality. Therefore I think this project mirrors very well the spirit of our brand” stated Bertelli.

The Prada Fondazione is a non-profit organization founded by Patrizion Bertelli and Miuccia Prada fifteen years ago. It has since held regular exhibitions of contemporary art, with the company’s own archives consisting of about 500 pieces. So far exhibitions have taken place within the Prada headquarters in Milan at Via Fogazzaro.
