Selfridges (, will be staging a “pop-up shop” in support of emerging young designers, and in conjunction with Graduate Fashion Week in October.

The buying team for the trailblazing department store hand picked 20 items shown at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week gala show to be placed within the contemporary and spirit department of the retailer's Oxford Street flagship store in London. In an added bonus, students who sell pieces via this platform will receive the full retail price as paid by the customer.

The project is emblematic of Selfridges outlook on upcoming talents, and Perushka DeZoysa, Selfridges' buying manager for women's contemporary, sees it as a great boost to the fledging British designers. "As a buyer, it's my job to look out for new talent and to make sure Selfridges has a mix of the best young designers alongside more established brands," DeZoysa explains. "The idea of the pop-up shop is to give fashion students the opportunity to experience one of the most exciting and competitive retail environments in the UK, while offering our customers unique pieces from young British designers they will not have heard of - yet, at least."
