Orinoco, the footwear line by Spain’s Pikolinos, was officially recognized as an “eco” label by the European Union. The “eco” label warrants that the product has been produced with low environmental impact and high-quality standards. Criteria for becoming an EU-eco-labeled brand include using vegetable-tanned leathers, rubber soles, water-based dyes and glues, and reducing the amount of chrome in used leathers. The EU publishes all eco-labeled companies of the various branches on the website, Eco-label.com.
