During the last edition of Kingpins Amsterdam, Orta, specialized denim manufacturer, and Garmon, chemical company, collaborate on the implementation of the GreenScreen methodology. Aims of the initiative are Orta's launch of a new breed of highly conscious denim materials and its intention to become the first textile industry to adopt this methodology.

“GreenScreen for Safer Chemicals” is a publicly available and transparent chemical hazard screening method developed by the US NGO “Clean Production Action” (CPA) to help the society move quickly and employ always more effectively greener and safer chemicals. GreenScreen is a methodology purely based on toxicology aimed at identifying safer chemicals. This methodology has already been adopted by different industry fields. Most renowned companies that have already adopted it are, for instance, Hewlett Packard and Sony.

Garmon Chemicals is the first company to have obtained GreenScreen certification on a large number of their chemicals and currently leads the way, by far, in garment processing. Orta Anadolu has decided to start adopting garment chemistry in the textile segment.

“Orta Anadolu and Garmon Chemicals, through their GreenScreen® collaboration, pave a new way of producing eco-friendly fabrics. We hope our collaboration generates new knowledge and sets an example to follow,” commented Ebru Ozaydin, marketing manager Orta Anadolu, and Alberto De Conti, managing director, Garmon.
