Onitsuka Tiger has opened up its first standalone retail footprint in the US. On April 6, the Japanese sneakers and sportswear brand celebrated the opening of its “pop-up gallery store” in New York City’s Soho district.

On 1,290-square foot (120 square meters), the space combines a retail store offering a range of Onitsuka Tiger footwear and apparel styles and an exhibition area, where replica performance shoes, archive posters and collaborative art of the locally-active Japanese artist Enirico Isamu Oyama are presented.
Onitsuka’s Nippon Made Collection, a series of hand-stitched made-in-Japan leather sneakers, is firstly being introduced to the US via the new retail outlet.

The pop-up will stay open until December 2017 and house a series of themed in-store fashion, music and sports events over the time to engage with the brand’s customers directly.
