Perry Ellis announced today that it has named Paul Witt as the new Vice President of Global Marketing & Communications at its Original Penguin label ( In his new position, Paul will direct the global brand image for all Original Penguin wholesale and retail business, including domestic and international marketing and public relations as well as domestic visual merchandising.

It was also announced that Witt intends to aggressively expanded the brand’s marketing strategy via new media and web based initiatives, grass roots development, and an official Original Penguin zine. In addition, he will oversee support for the brand’s planned 2008 retail expansion.

Paul brings 15 years of invaluable experience to his new position. From his early days in at Diesel where he created and executed visual and merchandising strategy for all North American Diesel locations, his position ultimately grew to oversee the Italian denim label’s entire marketing strategy for all brands including Diesel, Diesel Kids, 55DSL, DieselStyleLab, & D Squared as the company enjoyed massive global expansion. He was subsequently named VP of Marketing at Sean Jean, and most recently was VP of Global Marketing for Mavi Jeans.
