Ooga Booga, the hip indie art collective, has launched a mini-shop at Keep Company’s Fairfax store in Los Angeles. Recognized for her extraordinary collections of art books, self-published magazines, cutting-edge fashion and independent music, Ooga Booga founder Wendy Yao collaborated with Keep Company’s Una Kim, best known for her playful and colorful footwear, to bring together a group of cutting-edge artists to handpick their favorite products for the store project. Among the chosen were Ian Svenonius (frontman for DC punk bands Nation of Ulysses and The Make-Up), Rodarte, indie music leaders and social activists No Age, and Opening Ceremony. Mindful of the holiday season, the artists have limited their selections to items priced under $100, but they are no less cool. Customers can scoop up accessories by Bless, bike bags by Alexandra Cassiniti, Guyton Walker’s tumblers, Warner Herzog’s photo diary “Of Walking in Ice,” mixed tapes by K Records’ Calvin Johnson, and backpacks by Fjallraven Kanken, which earlier this week opened its own standalone boutique in New York City. Ooga Booga X Keep Company runs through Dec. 31.
