Nudie Jeans will be front and center of a two-day event promoting corporate social responsibility at the Swedish Embassy in Washington, DC. Brand founder and designer Maria Levin will be part of a panel of leading Swedish and American companies speaking on sustainability in fashion at a seminar titled “Clothing and Conscience” on Oct. 2. The following day, the brand will co-host with the Embassy “Recycle Denim Maniacs,” a denim show featuring select pieces from Nudie Jeans’s FW 2008 collection as well as creative projects such as 18th-century Swedish costumes made from previously worn jeans. Special guests include Division of Laura Lee from Gothenburg. Since 2001, Nudie Jeans has been an avid supporter of Amnesty International and the UN’s Declaration of Human Rights, for which it has raised over $325,000 to date through a special collaboration with 30 artists. All 30 works on T-shirts will be on display at the House of Sweden during the exclusive event.
