080 Barcelona fashion aims to become an international reference point and support for emerging designers, and wants to build a bridge between creativity and industry and, as such, the collections will have to withstand the critical views of national and international press and buyers.

Twenty-five candidates where whittled down to twelve finalists by a panel of the following five international fashion and textile design experts: Barbara Franchin (Project Supervisor of ITS); Valentina Maggi (design department Floriane de Saint Pierre & Associés); Jean-Luc Dupont (manager of PR agency Système D.); Sandra Dominguez (buyer at boutique Santa Eulàlia. The event is part of the governmental plan to support local fashion for the next two years, and is a joint initiative with the Catalan Autonomous Government and Barcelona City Council. This first edition has a budget of 1.3 million €, with 80% financed with public money.

Coinciding with the event, designer Míriam Ocariz will be exhibiting her work at Palau Dalmases, Carrer Montcada 20, 3-25 March 2008.
