Amid stories of a grim US economy, some positive news to report in the denim retail business. Andrew Buckler will open his first Canadian store in downtown Toronto on Sept. 3. Paige Adams-Geller will open a 1,600-sq.-ft store at the Canal Shoppes at the Venetian Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for her eponymous jeanswear brand on October 6. “I wanted the space to be inviting and echo the feel of my collections,” said the designer of the space that will feature Macassar ebony wood fixtures, crystal chandeliers, plush couches, and a brown and blue palette. Also in October, look for Joe’s Jeans to open its second freestanding store in Bucktown, Chicago. There’s bigger buzz, however, about the brand’s third store in San Francisco. Scheduled to open in November, the glass-heavy Union Square store will even feature Jaime Hayon’s Showtime furniture collection in addition to graphic tees, music, an apothecary and eyewear.
