Munich Fabric Start and Blue Zone, held from 1 to 3 February, 2016, at the MOC Messe Zentrum, closed another successful edition. The fair was visited by many fashion and textile industry insiders and pervaded by a very positive atmosphere since all its halls were filled with visitors.

The Blue Zone, the area focusing on denim and casual fabrics, hosted inside the Zenith Halle, disclosed some novelties. The new trend area has been completely redesigned and moved inside the exhibiting area, close to the entrance. New displays show a mix of products, photo collages and a wall of Polaroid prints from catwalk shows featuring denim pieces providing extra inspiration.

Another novelty was Blue Zone's booth display characterized by semi-transparent white fabric walls. Not everyone appreciated this change. Exhibitors were unhappy as past fixtures were lower and everyone could see who was around. Other visitors, on the contrary, appreciated the change of the increased privacy and quietness while placing orders. Others didn't like the choice of white walls clashing with the areas' blue floors and industrial style location.

Another novelty will also be disclosed for September 2016: the Kesselhaus, the dismissed area just opposite the Zenith Halle where Blue Zone took place, now under construction, and the adjacent one where after-show parties normally take place, will host a new pavilion measuring about 2,500 sq,meters aimed to present new projects and product categories. "We need to create new exhibiting spaces and projects,” commented Sebastian Klinder, organizer of Munich Fabric Start. “The market is looking for that," quotes the managing director of Munich Fabric Start. "A new bridge will connect – ideally and physically - the Zenith Hall with the two Kesselhaus buildings in order to move all three exhibiting areas closer. Additional building and real estate projects will complete the renovation of the area, including parking spaces, a park and a hotel.”

Klinder was satisfied with the first two days of the show: “We are looking back at two very well-attended days at the trade fair with a distinctly positive atmosphere. After the recent re-design of the Bluezone and the associated further segmentation we will soon be starting with the final planning and extension of an additional Innovation and Creative Forum.” The new area will measure altogether about 2,500 sq. meters. “We expect this new concept space will go beyond conventional presentation formats and will set new accents.”

STRETCH RULES
Stretch is a hot topic for the German market. Calik presented its Elastech highly performance stretch technology that keeps its surface flat and doesn't shrink despite harsh treatments and fiber mixes. Also Orta introduced Reverb, a comfort stretch with an authentic look and Amplify/Fast Forward 4, their bistretch for woman.
