For those who already heard about Munda:rt a couple of years ago and saw the assortment, the gap will be clear. When the footwear brand started end of 2013, the range was only composed of men shoes, high-top sneakers mostly in leather, retailing at €99-€149. Inspiration was drawn from street art like graffiti. After 3 launched collections, Munda:rt decided to rethink the label’s future nearly one year ago. “We decided to do a new brand positioning and broaden our design team,” explains Reinald Pehla, spokesperson at Munda:rt. A key move was to lower retail prices in order to make the brand more consumer-friendly. “In order to be more consumer-friendly, we worked less with leather,” continues Pehla. This way, all products within the upcoming spring/summer collection can retail at €69-€99. The profit margin for retailers remains the same with a 2.5 calculation.

Aesthetically, the sneakers have shifted towards broader market themes like fluor colors, perforated uppers or geometrical- and camouflage prints. For the newly-introduced women’s collection, holographic details, sequins and chunky soles are key elements. The seasonal image campaign radiates high doses of sensuality, playfulness and street-flair. Perhaps that’s the reason why -apart from the German-speaking countries- Munda:rt is also arriving to Europe being represented by new sales agencies in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxemburg and the UK.
