Milan’s Fashion Week is set to take place from September 19-25 and will feature womenswear collections and trends for the spring/summer 2013 season. A number of Milan’s historical palaces, including the Castello Sforzesco and the newly added Palazzo della Ragione, in addition to a range of showrooms and location, will be used to display the garments. 70 fashion shows are scheduled for 67 brands, as well as 53 presentations and 12 by appointment only, making for a total of 131 events.

A series of social and cultural events will round out the program, which containss an exhibition on “The 1990s as seen through the covers of fashion magazines.” Other events include an artistic performance created by artist Michelangelo Pistoletto that will present a manifesto for sustainability in Italian fashion, a movie dedicated to Diana Vreeland, a preview of the upcoming Pablo Picasso exhibition and a special homage to Anna Piaggi, the fashion icon and personality who passed away this August. The last day will close with a charity kidswear fashion show and the musical theatre version of the cult film, “Saturday Night Fever.”
