Bringing back an almost forgotten form of advertising: hand-painted outdoor advertising is what Italian luxury brand Gucci features (again) this season. The motives, both scrabbled by UK illustrator Angelica Hicks are painted on the wall by hand over the course of six days-one in Milan, the other in New York.

Of course, the project has a neven longer digital arm: a Snapchat geo-filter created by Angelica Hicks will be available in the vicinity of the artwork in New York City. Furthermore, using the Gucci App, the Gucci Art Wall and postcards featuring Angelica Hicks’ designs available in Gucci stores will be scannable to reveal an animation of the illustrations.

To further celebrate the collaboration between Hicks and the famous design house, Gucci’s Creative head Alessandro Michele has chosen several of her illustrations for a limited-edition T-shirt collection. Launching on May 25th, the collection will be available exclusively on Gucci.com in the US and Europe.  Eleven T-shirt designs are featured with only 100 units of each style, each piece numbered with a dedicated label.

The Tees come in a vintage-style metal box, featuring the same illustration as the garment inside. The packaging is completed with a printed card that explains the exclusive nature of the collection and encourages customers to engage with the brand through the project hashtag #guccigeeks.
