As we reported earlier, casual wear brand Marc O’Polo from Stephanskirchen, Germany, developed expansion plans for China after teaming up with franchise partner Zhejiang Semir Garment Co., Ltd.

End of August, the brand has opened up its first store in Shanghai. The store is located in the Global Harbor Mall in the Puoto district, in direct proximity to the main shopping streets. On a sales space of 250 sqm, Marc O’Polo offers its casual womenswear and menswear collections as well as shoes and accessories.

Alexander Gedat, CEO Marc O’Polo is confident: “The city is not only the financial center of China, it is also the gateway to the rest of the country. While we gain important experience through these stores regarding the right range of products, preferred colors or cuts (…), we can also benefit from the uplifting power of the market growth in order to continue our expansion plans in the rest of the country.”

In 2014, Marc O’Polo already opened stores in Russia and franchise stores in Croatia, Kazakhstan as well as in Germany and Switzerland. In October, a second franchise store will open in Tallin, Estonia. In China, further openings are expected to follow later this year.
