Board sport (r)etailer Blue Tomato faces some deep changes in its management: founder Gerfried Schuller retires as CEO. He founded the company back in 1988 as former European snowboarding champion. After almost 30 years, he hands over the chair and steps into the background as strategic advisor. Adam Ellis becomes his successor as new CEO. He has been with Zumiez - the US parent company of Blue Tomato - for more than ten years and was responsible for internationalization and new concepts.
In addition to Ellis as new CEO, Heinz Tritscher, currently director of operations, becomes a proxy.

With the departure of company founder Gerfried Schuller, an era comes to an end at Blue Tomato. "It were exciting years and I was fortunate to live my passion - snowboarding and surfing - in my business and pass this passion on to many friends, employees and customers," Schuller looks back. "For me personally this step means more time for travel, surfing, snowboarding, sailing, mountains, sea - and above all my family and friends."
After the start out of his garage in 1988, Schuller also started on the World Wide Web in addition to the first small shops. The first homepage went online in 1997, two years later the first web shop followed. Blue Tomato now offers over 450,000 products and the webshop is available in 14 languages. The company also operates several stores in Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Berlin to name only a few. Recently, the first store in Switzerland opened in Zurich.
