Less than two weeks after announcing its new ownership by Swiss luxury company Labelux Group, British heritage brand Belstaff has named Martin Cooper, 45, as its new Chief Creative Officer. Cooper, a longtime fashion veteran, will assume his role immediately and report to Belstaff CEO Harry Slatkin.

Prior to his new job, Cooper served as vice president and design director of outerwear at Burberry from 1994 to 2010. There, he launched Burberry Sport and Art of the Trench and oversaw design, production and manufacturing of Burberry’s global outerwear. An inductee into the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in 2003, he has also designed outerwear for Calvin Klein, Fairbrook Enterprises and Perry Ellis Coats. He is also an artistic photographer and costumer in the dance world.

“I’m honored to take a key role in shaping the image of Belstaff,” Cooper said in a written company statement. “This is an iconic brand with a rich heritage and I look forward to working with Harry Slatkin on taking it to the next level.”
