Marni ( has opened its new store in South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa. Following from the launch of locations in New York and Los Angeles, this West Coast boutique marks another stride forward in the expansion of Marni’s U.S. retail network.

The boutique covers one floor space of 250sqm, and has been created as a neutral and luminous space that is a result of the creative dialogue between Consuelo Castiglioni and the Sybarite architectural studio ( ).

Soaring white ceilings are given movement with lighting elements embedded at regular intervals, while the pearl gray walls rise from a natural teak floor. The front of the store features a white lacquered staircase for the accessories and a mirrored, rotating centerpiece placed on an oval rug at the entrance. Interweaving among these design elements are the brand’s hallmark shiny steel branches for hanging the Marni collection pieces, which curve sinuously around the entire perimeter of the boutique before cascading to the floor.

Along with the steel branches, the design theme also brings back the elliptical mirrors that appear as if suspended from columns and walls. The artful lighting and color scheme enhances the purity of lines that are intersected with references to nature, creating a fragmented yet harmonious whole and bringing an eclectic and playful touch to South Coast Plaza, Marni style.
