Marios Schwab (mariosschwab.com), one of the most exciting new designers to emerge on the international fashion arena, has bagged one of the industry’s most prestigious prizes from the Swiss Textile Awards, edition 2007, which is run by the Swiss Textile Federation (swisstextiles.ch).

Beating a line-up of other talents including Ann-Sofie Back, Gareth Pugh, Felipe Oliviera Baptista, Ute Ploier and Bless, Schwab joins the high profile league of previous winners including Raf Simons and Bruno Pieters.

It was a delighted Schwab who received the award (pictured above, right, with Swiss Textile Federation president Max Hungerbühler) worth €100,000, of which €10,000 is given in the form of fine Swiss fabric. The rest of the sum is used to support the production, display and marketing of the winning collection. Marios Schwab plans to use the prize money to expand his business and begin working with more prestigious textile houses.
