Madrid Fashion Week, which is scheduled to run Sept. 15-19, has changed its name to Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week. Organizers have also tripled the event space from 5,400 to 14,000 sq. meters, and for the first time will stage shows on two separate catwalks inside the city’s exhibition center. At Sala Cibeles, Spanish designers will show more classical and glamorous collections, while innovative, avant-garde styles will be presented at Sala Neptuno. The September edition also features more Spanish designers than ever. Fifty-two Spanish designers, including Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Amaya Arzuaga and Joseph Abril, will present their S/S 2009 collections in 40 catwalk shows. Young fashion talents also have an outlet for their designs. “El Ego,” a plaform created for young designers, will be integrated into the catwalk calender and take place on the last day of fashion week.
