Jeans, the Moscow-based international trade fair for street- and casualwear founded in 2002, held its 11th and last autonomous edition on February 20 to 22. Starting with the next edition, to be held September 5 to 8, the show will be controlled by ispo Russia.

Although the news of the merger has just become official, ispo Russia’s organizers, Messe München GmbH and the Russian Sport Communication Group, made it clear that they wanted to extend the casual fashion segment of ispo Russia at its most recent edition on February 19 to 22.

According to Jeans show director Svetlana Ponomareva, due to the current trend toward the fusion of sports- and casualwear, combining the two shows should have positive effects for both participants and visitors.

Both shows had the same location (Crocus Expo) and overlapping dates, so many believe the merger was only a matter of time.

With the schedule of fashion fairs especially tight this season – in addition to ispo Russia and Jeans, there was CPM Moscow from February 28 to March 2, Moscow Fashion Expo from February 28 to March 3 as well as Premiére Vision from March 13 to 14 and Textillegprom from March 26 to 29 – it remains to be seen if other shows will continue to stand alone or also join forces.
