Extending his repertoire to home furnishings, Jean Paul Gaultier has embarked on a collaborative project with the upmarket French furniture brand Roche Bobois. The line is not due to be unveiled before the fall, but as a teaser, Roche Bobois recently worked with the designer to kit out the Elle Decoration suite in Paris, located on the top floor of the city’s museum of architecture. As to be expected from Monsieur Gaultier, nautical stripes were out in force, as were organic features such as moss-adorned sofas. The upcoming Roche Bobois range might not be quite as experimental, but anticipation is still high, particularly since the designer’s Roman chariot-style armchairs that he designed for VIA in 1992 were anything but forgettable.
