Global denim manufacturer Isko has just launched its new Isko Arquas, an innovative activewear platform, as part of their evolutionary path that started in 2013 - “The Denim sapiens, from rigid to future species”. The launch event was held in Milan on 22 October and will also be showcased in the US in New York on 10 November, 2015.

While searching for smart new denim interpretations and focusing on the athleisure trend, together with its design and style research center Creative Room, Isko has developed an experimental sample collection made up of about 20 pieces, a sort of “inspirational anthology” including a part of their newly developed Isko Arquas platform made up of 50 different fabrics. All the newborn materials are faithful to denim’s own DNA characteristics such as its typical weaves and weights, indigo blue cotton, and other similar aspects, though hyped with higher functions such as high-performance elasticity, antibacterial properties, tear-resistance and other highly functional performances.

“Isko has always been very keen on searching for new frontiers,” explained Marco Lucietti, marketing manager, Isko/Sanko textile division. “In terms of trends, athleisure is the new frontier in fashion. It mixes style and comfort, day-to-day living and the contemporary look. Isko had already started exploring the Athleisure trend since the last seasons by launching Isko Future Face, a fabric between denim and fleece, Isko Bluejym revealing their athleisure potential through their double soul, Jeggings and their Active Jeggings version, stretch fabrics that ensure top comfort and flexibility,” continued Lucietti. “We are glad to introduce Isko Arquas to the industry. It is the activewear platform for one-of-a-kind fabrics that deliver the performance required by sports and the style that fashion consumers are looking for.”

The new Isko Arquas collection is structured in four product families conveying different shades of athleisure expression. “Dance, Fitness, Yoga”, devised for dancers, yoga and fitness lovers, is about softness and fluidity, without compromising style. “Urban Tech” fabrics are designed for city dwellers and guarantee an excellent fit for maximum movement without sacrificing comfort or stretch performance. “Blue Outdoor” are special denims aimed at open air lovers offering exceptional protection from the elements. The “Commuter Biking” materials are dedicated to the urban city bikers all around the world looking for wearability and practicality from home to the office.

Each of these fabrics are made of cotton, weigh from 5 to 12 oz. and can all be aged and treated like regular denims. Salespeople have already started presenting them to some of the key players in the denim, sportswear and activewear markets with a highly positive response. Among companies that already appreciate the new fabrics are, for instance, Diesel, Replay, J Brand, Husdon Jeans, Lululemon and Urban Outfitters.

Isko also started experimenting other new paths, as explained by Massimo Munari, creative director, Creative Room: “Our next aim will be that of exploring new employs of denim in the luxury fashion market. We already started testing new fabrics that employ very high-quality wool. We are pretty confident that a lot can be done also in this direction.”
