Denim manufacturer Isko has announced the list of selected international fashion students that will compete for the Promising Talent Award, which will be awarded on July 2nd at an exclusive event in Milan. The initiative looks for innovative denim proposals where key criteria such as washing, fit and finishes will be taken into account. Besides, the project is exploring the new trends emerging from younger creative minds. “This award is part of our commitment towards know-how sharing and also investing in the future of this industry,” said Marco Lucietti, global marketing director at Isko.

At the same time, the Promising Talent Award aims to build a bridge between design students and the denim industry, as according to the organizers there´s a lack of focus on the particular design procedures of denim garments in fashion schools. “Students don´t get enough instruction on this garment, which is a pity, especially when you think about the value of this market worldwide,” said Chantal Malingrey, director of Denim Première Vision.
In comparison to the first edition, the Isko-Iskool project has grown from 6 supporting fashion schools to 14, targeting nearly 40,000 students globally.

For the current second edition of the Isko-Iskool project, the synergies with Denim Première Vision are stronger as the trade show, together with Creative Room TM, has shortlisted some of the students who developed their creations for the four moods of the Design award: Bohemian Blue, Couture Denim, Active Jeanswear and Future Fit.
