The next catwalk season will kick off in Istanbul, as organizers at ITKIB, the Turkish association for export firms for textile and clothing, aim to establish Istanbul Fashion Week as an international platform for national Turkish design.

The next Istanbul Fashion Week is confirmed to run Feb. 3-6, 2010 at the new location of the recently restored and rebuilt Silahtaraga power station.

The event will showcase 20 different fashion shows, while a selection of outstanding Turkish fashion companies will present themselves in the new location of Santral Istanbul, the former power station that has lately become a hotspot for communication, culture and cross-cultural dialogues. It has also hosted several exhibitions, including the outstanding “Modern and Beyond.”

Modern Istanbul, with its contemporary art and cultural substance, was recently named the world culture capital in 2010.
