Camera Nazionale della Moda, the governing body of Italy’s fashion weeks, announced today that IMG, the global sports and entertainment corporation, will organize and promote Milan’s fashion weeks starting with the menswear shows in January 2004.
IMG, which has owned New York’s fashion week coordinating organization, 7th on Sixth, since 2001, was brought on to raise the visibility and financial success of Milan’s binannual fashion weeks. Sources believe IMG will bring more high-profile corporate sponsors and intense marketing to the Italian shows, much like it has done in New York.
