Harrods, London’s most ostentatious department store, dramatically changed hands last week. Selling the establishment to retire in order to spend more time with his family, Mohamed Al-Fayed reportedly received £1.5 bn from Harrods’ new owner, Qatar Holdings (the investment company associated with the Qatari royal family). Reluctant to cut all ties with the department store, Mohamed Al-Fayed will remain Honorary Chairman of Harrods.
