We knew it was only a matter of time before this would happen. Sanrio will release its first Hello Kitty album on Lakeshore Records on Oct. 7. Exclusive to Wal-Mart in the US, “Hello World” features 11 perky tracks sung by various young artists, including Keke Palmer whose “Come On, Come On” single has already been released for airplay on Radio Disney and hits iTunes on Sept. 30. Other artists include Cori Yarckin whose single “’Do You Really Wanna” will be made available soon on Sanrio.com, YouTube and other social networking websites. Already being previewed on its MySpace and Facebook pages, the album could just be a runaway hit. Top producers Toby Gad and Gen Rubin and Cherry Lane Music Publishing, which signed a multi-year deal with Sanrio to create original music for Hello Kitty and other character brands, are behind the project.
