Casual apparel brand Hard Tail is adding Black Lycra Supplex, a performance-oriented fabrication, to its collection.

The new fabric will be offered in eight key workout and yoga silhouettes, including two bra tanks, a jacket, skirt and four leggings.

Black Lycra Supplex is unique in that it replaces white Lycra on the under-layer of the fabric, reducing the traditional shiny “white” effect of the fabric.

“When you’re stretching forward, your booty won’t shine or have that white effect,” says Hard Tail Apparel Designer Suwon Weaver. “Ultimately, the fabric is more matte and more flattering.”

Weaver adds that while the fabric is slightly heavier than its traditional cotton-Lycra fabrics, it feels light when working out or practising yoga and even offers moisture-wicking, antibacterial and quick drying features.

The collection will retail between $60 and $100 at Hard Tail’s flagship store, Bloomingdale’s, select specialty stores and yoga studios across the country beginning this August.
