Barely a week after the closing ceremonies in Beijing, Vanilla Star Jeans debuted the second series of its print campaign featuring US Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin this morning. Liukin has been named “global ambassador” for the ‘Smart Girls Rock” campaign. “We love that Nastia is the perfect fit for Vanilla Star like our jeans are for her,” said brand CEO Sandeep Behl. Company president Mark Levy added, by way of press release, that Liukin served as a role model and inspiration to young generations, with a personality that meshed with the company’s philosophy. Founded in 2002, the New York-based company already celebrates positive images of young women with its “Live The Dream Scholarship,” awarded annually to help young women pursue their dreams in academia, sports, fashion and entertainment. Proceeds from signature T-shirts designed by Liukin and sold exclusively on the company website will go to the scholarship.
